Francisco Franco is an artist working with photography and video and exclusively shooting black and white art nudes. Based in Costa Mesa, California, he practices under his last name, Franco.
Franco grew up in Fullerton, California. While a freshman in high school, he started creating art. Additionally, during his late teenage years, he enrolled in photography classes where he learned things like the origin of photographs and film. Though drawn to photos, in college he studied graphic design, film, and computer animation. But, kept his passion for photography and started doing photography on the side. Initially, taking photos and editing wedding footage.
Consequently, he started his own photo studio, Photogenix Professional Photography, which focused on shooting a variety of social events and weddings. Aside from photography, Franco worked outside the art field and took on a variety of work opportunities. Though they were not creative endeavors, he never put his camera down. Additionally, he considers himself a self-taught photographer. He learned by himself how to roll his own negatives and how to develop his film and prints. The equipment he uses includes a Canon 5D MK II and studio strobes for lighting.
His work takes inspiration from a variety of sources. Some of them include the work of other photographers, his role models, and people who encourage him to become the best photographer he can be. Additionally, another driving force for producing images is the idea of people owning his work and displaying them in their homes or workplaces. Through his portfolio, Francisco Franco strives to achieve high-quality imagery captured with his camera lens.
Franco’s photographs revolve around the fashion, editorial, swimsuit, and nude art genres. However, he favors producing nude art photos as they offer him a canvas to explore different visions with no limitations. He gravitates towards the female nude form due to its beauty and approachability. Additionally, he admires the beautiful curves and features found within a woman’s body, all enhanced in his images. His fascination leads him to explore that desire through a camera and sculpting it with light and shadows.
The creative process of Francisco Franco consists of several steps to ensure he gets the perfect shot. Also, to avoid digital editing as much as possible. First, he develops a goal, theme, style, and purpose to explore with his photography. Next, he researches by looking at a variety of sources such as mood boards, Pinterest, etc. Then, he sends a casting call for models and takes his time to ensure that he chooses the perfect one for his vision. Finally, he executes the photo shoot in a three-to-four-hour session.
Some of Franco’s photographic accomplishments include having his work published in various print and online publications. Furthermore, he aspires to print his images as a collection in a series of photo books. Additionally, his images exhibited in solo and group exhibitions mainly in Los Angeles, California. And, wishes that as the years go by that they exhibit at a variety of global venues.
Francisco Franco continues to create self-described as beautiful, unique, and well executed nude photographs for the enjoyment of viewers on an international level.
